Hands-On STEM with HABs

Presenter: Jack McElroy KM4ZIA

Forum Description:  “High-Altitude Balloons (HABs) are a special type of balloon that allows for scientific payloads to be carried thousands of miles across the globe or over a 100,000 feet into the atmosphere.  In this presentation, Jack will be discussing the basics of using these balloons with amateur radio to provide for not only a fun, technical experience, but also how they can be a great avenue to bring youth into ham radio.  Additionally, he will present about his latest HAB launch at Walnut Grove Elementary School back in December.  Come and learn how you can get started launching your own amateur radio HABs and current efforts to combine classroom physics with radio.”
