Presenter: Lee Johnson N4WYE
Lee was licensed in 1957 as KH6DAK, finished college in electrical engineering, and remained in communications technology/systems for his entire career. He is one of the founding members of the Raleigh Amateur Radio Society and built the original 04/64 W4DW repeater in the early 1970s. He is also a life member of the ARRL and IEEE.
Forum Description: We all would like to maximize the performance of our antennas. This presentation will demonstrate the Modeling Software MMANA-GAL, with a library of existing designs, and a simple graphical interface that will allow you to predict the SWR, impedances, and propagation patterns. Once modeled, I then will demonstrate how to use the worldwide network of SDR radio reverse beacons to prove the performance.
After the Forum: Lee will be at the NFARL Code Practice Oscilator Kit build area to calibrate and configure your Nano VNA to measure SWR:
- In the 1-30MHz band, directly when you turn it on, and in addition,
- On 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meter bands with stored memory.
